Okay so today’s blog post is simple- has nothing to with wedding photography or anything like that!
Today I got to attend and cover the press conference for Khan V’s Peterson at Walter E. Washington Convention Center, DC.
Its simple, how could I ever turn down an opportunity to go and meet some amazing boxers all in one room right?! I just simply couldn’t! {Really the last picture was worth the wait you’ll see what I mean when you get to end of this post!}
Okay so I’m going to make this a quick one! I get there and of course the Bolton lads gave Amir Khan a very warm and loud welcoming entrance to the Press conference today.. what can I say? they are from Bolton after all – us northerners are loud, funny and just know all about unity. I was moved (in a good way) by the strong sense of brotherhood between these lads, dedicated to what they call “Khan’s Army”
Today the Unified Light-Welterweight Champion of the World Amir Khan, received birthday cake during the press conference. Amir celebrates his 25th birthday – Happy Birthday Amir!
enjoy highlights of today’s press conference:
with President of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya , Team Khan, Team Paterson, Asif Vali, Bernard Hopkins, Amir Khan, Lamont Peterson, trainer Freddie Roach, Barry Hunter, Tony Thompson:

Okay so its Tues night and where am I? I’m here at the Amir Khan Media Workout at the Kennedy Recreation Center. I get my press pass and off I go into a room full of sports paparazzi and here’s little old me just trying to squeeze in to grab a few snaps in the sweaty male dominated room. Yes sweaty! Amir Khan starts off with a workout and we all begin vying for a position around the ring.
On Dec. 10, the junior welterweight champion will fight top challenger and D.C. native Lamont Peterson inside the city’s convention center. It’s Washington’s first fight since former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson lost to Kevin McBride in 2005. – Ohh I’m so excited!
Amir Khan holds a special place in my heart, why? Because not only does he come from my neck of the woods in England but I thrive in seeing talented and skillful people from my community rise. When I pass the Reebok stadium back home I can only think of one person: Amir Khan, and yes he was the one to put Bolton on the map.
He’s kind, sweet and simply adorable, we share many mutual friends back home and I can say one thing for sure, Ive only ever heard bright compliments about this bloke! Yes I said bloke!
In the press conference today he mentioned that he is to be engaged very soon, {sorry girls i know!} Wait did I just hear right? Here in DC to be engaged? Oohh Gosh how I’d love to shoot him and his fiancee a DC engagement session on the mall. Okay I’m getting carried away {Amir if you reading this I’m actually a wedding photographer and I’m available to shoot you guys while your here in DC!}
On the more serious side, Amir Khan is training for his big fight on Saturday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. I’ve already bought my tickets and I’m so excited to support him and Team Khan on the night.
Amir you’re a hard worker and we all love you no matter what side of the pond … I wish you all the best and lastly – Lets take Peterson down! {sorry guys I’m Mancunian, and although living in DC, I’m still supporting my hometown!}

“Will you marry me?” One female fan asks last night at the Press Conference for Takeover Tour 2011. {Girls i must tell – Imran Khan IS single}
Imran Khan, Punjabi R&B and hip hop sensation. for the very first time is performing his debut album “Unforgettable” along with H-Dhami, Culture Shock Crew- Baba Kahn, Lomaticc & Sunny Brown and DJ Kamran (Official Tour DJ)
As a former Acoustic engineer, I have a deep passion for music especially since i was growing up. I grew up with listening to Bhangra, Rnb, Hip hop and a new found Brit-Asian music. From College I had deep connections with local talent in Manchester and being around that environment my passion for Desi Music just blossomed.
Last night I got to meet H-Dhami yes the successful British-Indian bhangra artist who signed with Rishi Rich Productions. What a lovely fella, handsome polite and humble. He starts the press conference off by thanking his family and friends and more important his fans. He said he felt the love and that he adored his US fans.
The first time i discovered H-Dhami was when I was shooting a wedding and when his track “Sadke Java” came on the whole bridal party went crazy, aside from capturing crazy desi people singing and dancing to the words of “Sadke Java” I knew that this track was gonna a big hit on the dance floor and yes it did! 4 Years on this song is played over and over again even at the last wedding I shot last week! Its no surprise that this guy has so much talent he is after all the son of Palvinder Dhami, lead singer of the 1980s prominent bhangra group Heera Group UK.While being quizzed about his love life, he became very reserved and girls that question is still unknown we don’t know much, apart from he likes to keep that part of his life private.
Coming to Imran Khan, well what can I say about the Dutch-born Punjabi singer? He’s simple adorable, his accent makes you want to listen to him over and over again..
He talks about his success and gives us a few lines on the mic, making the fans finish the rest of the song. He has great things happening next year he will be launching his new clothes line. He did mention that he loves to tweet you can follow him : ImranKhanWorld
Culture Shock then made an appearance giving fans an opportunity to meet and greet and have photos taken.
If you are as excited as I am then you need to get your tickets RIGHT NOW and don’t miss this amazing show tonight!!

Hassan - I think you’re providing fantastic coverage building up towards the fight and for some reason I feel i’d be just as excited as you seem to be about the whole event if I were in your shoes. That last picture actually made me crack up
Keep up the good work Erum!
