Ali & Andy | Engaged

“THE REST OF MY LIFE STARRING ME AND YOU”

Okay so where do I start? Ali is a dear friend of mine, our friendship has blossomed over the course of this last year and its almost hard to separate us from our cameras! Ali is also a photographer and im telling you this girl works hard! Check her website out : Ali Mclaughlin Photography. I remember the first time I really got to know Andy, late in the night at an Art Soiree event in Georgetown. This guy had it all, good looks, charming smile and a great sense of humor to go with it! Andy & Ali have been together for over 2 years and he finally popped the question, you can read the proposal story here.
So When Ali & Andy asked me to shoot their wedding, I was over the moon!
Ali & Andy spend alot of time at the movies {hence why we never go together, because she’s already “seen it” with Andy} So we decided that their engagement session would be based around what they both spend alot of time doing together. We started the day in Old Town Alexandria by the waterfront, heading over to the Old Town Theater. Yes Lights Camera Action! we managed to shoot inside the theatre too and to top it all off, Ali & Andy took the center stage and became the star of their own show! Enjoy! :

Garba | Rajan & Rajul

The swinging of Lengha’s the beat of the sticks, the live music .. Garba’s are full of life!  A garba is filled with so much color and excitement. I had the pleasure to photograph Rajan & Rajul’s lavish wedding garba.
I met Rajan & Rajul on the day of their event, their original photographer had backed out and so yes “Erum to the rescue”! Not knowing what or why or who the event was for, I turned up just anxious to meet the couple and the family. I fell in love with the details, the delicate petals placed effortlessly on the tables, the sacred statues, the custom jars of honey printed with “Honey is a term of endearment; A symbol of sweetness, love and knowledge creating happiness for mankind” – what a brilliant idea!
They began the evening lighting a candle together, surrounded by hundreds of loved ones who wore beautiful, vibrant jeweled chaniya choli, bandhani dupatta, and ghagra. Many Gujarati traditions were incorporated into their  wedding celebrations.
Rajan & Rajul kicked off their celebration by leading the dancing. Friends and family of all ages joined in the circle, clapping their hands as they formed a concentric circle around the candle. The inner circle was reserved for complex dancing, while the outer circles were a bit more relaxed and observant. Throughout the evening, the pace folk dhol beat picked up, and custom dandiya sticks were handed out. Guests clicked the sticks to the beat of the drums. The bride and groom enjoyed their guests and were entertained by songs about love and marriage. Here are the highlights:

The Gathering Place | Rabia & Mohsin

Omg omg omg! This couple were just amazing! The Bride was “twitterific” yes Rabia found me on Twitter a while ago and mentioned that she was to relocate to Maryland from California. Yes not only is she just bubbly, warm and just awesome but which bride do you know tweets while shes getting married huh!? Mohsin, well he was just way to cool! I love this couple, they just both ROCK!!.
So I had the pleasure of shooting their Walima Reception and got a good few hours before the event to take some awesome portraits down at Columbia Lakefront and get to know my awesome couple better! Even better I had one of my best friend Ali from Ali Mcglaughlin Photography to second shoot with me.
